This unit works great alongside your calendar. Follow the steps to set up Sight Word of the Day.
There are six different signs that come in 6 different sizes. Black and white versions are also available.
Type 20 sight words on the sight word list that your students will be working on. Also type 8 non-examples that students will not be working on. The words will spread throughout the document.
The boys and girls will first read the word. Have them trace each letter with their finger.
Next, the boys and girls will build the word, starting at the left and moving to the right.
The, the boys and girls will visually discriminate between a variety of words and circle the sight word of the day.
The boys and girls will sort the apples by sight word and non-sight word of the day.
The boys and girls will trace the sight words with a dry erase marker that attaches to the wall with putty.
Next, the boys and girls will write the sight word.
Finally, they will write a simple sentence and draw a picture to match. This is great for the middle or end of kindergarten. You will need a variety of expo markers.
Keep the entire class engaged. Place the follow along page on clipboard and they can trace, write and color the sight word of the day.
