Sight Word Activities Display Charts EDITABLE

Sight Word activities are a crucial part of literacy in Kindergarten and first grade and it can become pretty monotonous for little learners.  Each month I try to motivate learners with a fun craft and display chart.  This unit is EDITABLE!!  To create the word list I type 20 words on a checklist document and the words spread throughout.  For the month of march the boys and girls can add gold to the leprechaun’s pot or hearts to a rainbow.

Display Sight Word Chart for Large Group Activities

There are several way to use this activity.  If your class works on the same 10-20 words at a time, you could hang the craft in your calendar area.  As you introduce a new sight word you could add it to the pot.  You could also laminate the crafts and coins.  Attach Velcro to the coins and pot.  Each day, give a child a coin, have them read the coin and put it on the pot (or heart on the rainbow).  For a large group practice and review.the

Sight Word Charts are a Great Way to Show Individual Progress

The kids would have a blast making the craft and hanging it on a bulletin board to display.  When they have learned a new word, they can cut it out and glue it to their rainbow or pot.  There are so many options for  differentiation, so you can prep many different words and roughly cut out the coins and place a rubber band around them.  Store them in a small drawer and pass out when needed.

Everyone Can Show Progress No Matter Their Level

The boys and girls can also color in or write the word on their own recording sheet to track progress and will enjoy sharing the display chart with their families.

The pots, rainbows, gold coins and hearts are all editable so this would also work for foreign languages or any other creative ideas you may have!
